Cleaning Bathroom Fixtures - Tip 2: Mirrors

Tip 2 - Mirrors

To prevent a bathroom mirror becoming clouded with steam, rub it all over with a cloth slightly dampened with glycerin. Use Duplex Jetvac steamer to thermally extract and dry the excess steam residues in the  mirror with the Jetvac's unique wet and dry vacuum feature. After wet and dry vacuuming, use microfibre cloth or mitt to wipe off any leftover in the mirror.

There will be less steam in a bathroom if a little cold water is first run into the bath.

The spray-on  window cleaners, when applied to mirrors, should not sprayed too liberally, or be left on the surface for too long. It is actually safer to spray a soft cloth with the steam cleaner at low pressure and apply that to the mirror.

Some old mirrors and those in damp positions, as in a steamy bathroom, often become blotched. No amount of surface rubbing will restore them because the backing has been effected. It is necessary to have the entire mirror re-silvered. Instead, the superheated dry steam should be used to deep clean, extract and dry the mirror simultaneously without applying hard pressure in touching the surface.

Cleaning Bathroom Fixtures - Tip 1: Bath Stains

Tip 1 -
Bath Stains

Bath and basin stains caused by split hair dyes, medicines and cosmetics often can be removed by the application of superheated dry steam from Duplex steam cleaner. Spray a jet of heated steam with Jetsteam Maxi steamer on the affected surface and let it dry for three hours. Rinse off and repeat if necessary.

Extremely neglected tiles, porcelain baths and sinks might need cleaning with spirits of salts. Gloves should be worn, care needs to be taken to keep children and pets at bay, and skin should be protected.

Fill water in whole to a steam cleaner, and add one tablespoon of acid to the hot water injection feature. Spray about 0.5 sqm at a time, beginning at the bottom and working upward. Leave the spray on for a minute. Wipe off with clean water or microfibre cloth to pick up the residue.
When the job is finished, wipe all over with clean water containing one tablespoon of washing soda to neutralise the acid and use microfibre glove to absorb the remaining leftovers. You may wish to use Jetsteam Maxi or Jetvac Junior to thermally steam and disinfect the surface to leave it to dry and restored completely.

A cracked bathroom basin can be patched until a replacement is possible. Work from the underside of the basin, and wash the length of the crack with Duplex's steam cleaning equipment such as Jetsteam Professional  to remove traces of grease and soap. Then stretch a length of wide waterproof adhesive plaster along the length of the crack and smooth out all air bubbles.

Apply a coat of white paint and when this dries, a second coat. Do not use the basin for 24 hours.

Rust marks on a bath or basin can be easily removed with high pressure steam cleaner. Simply apply the dry steam at high pressure, for instance, at 8 bar pressure, to wipe off the marks and restore the surface.
